This is the ninth of 10 Steps to Build and Sell Your Courses Online.
Creating a sense of urgency will help compel students to buy or register for your online courses today. A great way to do this is by creating time sensitive offerings. A well designed LMS will allow you to create coupons and time sensitive offerings that you can use in marketing to the public, as well as to existing students.
Sometimes there is no need to reinvent the wheel when creating additional courses. If you have a successful course offering, you may want to just consider modifying it so that it appeals to a new audience.
For example, change existing courses to appeal to new age groups or make a course more gender specific so that you have one course targeting women and another targeting men.
For example, maybe you have an art or music class that, with just a few revisions, could change the focus from adults to children (or vice versa). By having an adult and children’s version of the class available, you’ve just doubled your audience.
For other courses, you may consider using a greater mix of either women or men in presentations, and alter the focus or presentation slightly to appeal more to a specific gender.
Do you offer online courses that have beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels? For courses with multiple levels, such as language, music, art, or other progressive courses, you should consider bundling the levels as a package deal.
This will encourage students to commit to taking multiple levels, and ensure that they purchase them from you. You can also bundle different courses under the same general topic.
For example, you may want to bundle a Real Estate continuing education course with an ethics course and an appraisal course. By taking all three courses, students could earn more continuing education credits.
